Early Detection Program for Breast and Cervical Cancer in Indonesia: How is Implementation?

Get PDF
Breast and cervical cancer have ranked first and second in terms of the highest cancer cases in Indonesia. The high incidence of breast and cervical cancer is due to the low coverage of early detection. This study aimed to examine the implementation of breast cancer early detection programs using the SADANIS method and cervical cancer using the IVA method. This current study used a qualitative and descriptive approach through input, process, output, and impact variables. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation review. The results revealed that the number of trained human resources, facilities, and infrastructure was sufficient. The program had also implemented online and offline information systems and was actively conducting inspections integrated with the “Family Planning” program. The high achievement of the program had also been supported by the existence of an innovative screening system and direct examination in the community. The program achievements for 2021-2022 (January-June) and cases of cervical cancer had decreased. Implementing the early detection program for breast and cervical cancer is considered better. It can thus become a model for other regencies

An Emergent Self-Awareness Module for Physical Layer Security in Cognitive UAV Radios

Get PDF
In this paper, we propose to introduce an emergent Self-Awareness (SA) module at the physical layer (PHY) in Cognitive Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Radios to improve PHY security, especially against jamming attacks. SA is based on learning a hierarchical representation of the radio environment by means of a proposed Hierarchical Dynamic Bayesian Network (HDBN). It is shown how the acquired knowledge from previous experiences facilitate the radio spectrum perception and allow the radio to detect abnormal behaviours caused by jamming attacks. Detecting abnormalities realize a fundamental step towards growing up incrementally the radio’s long-term memory. Deviations from predictions estimated during abnormal situations are used to characterize jammers at multiple levels and discover their dynamic behavioural rules. Besides, a proactive consequence can be drawn after estimating the jammer’s signal to act efficiently by mitigating its effects on the received stimuli. Simulation results show that the introduction of the novel SA functionalities with the proposed HDBN framework provides the high accuracy of characterizing, detecting and predicting the jammer’s activities

Further, Action Design Research (ADR) has recently developed as a broad research method that focuses on designing and redesigning IT and IS in organizational contexts. This paper reflects on applying ADR in a complex organizational context in a developing country. It shows that ADR requires additional lens for designing IS in such a complex organizational context. Through conducting ADR, it is seen that an ethnographic framework has potential complementarities for understanding complex contexts thereby enhancing the ADR processes. This paper argues that conducting ADR with an ethnographic approach enhances design of IS and organizational contexts. Finally, this paper aims presents a broader methodological framework, Action Design Ethnographic Research (ADER), for designing artefacts as well as IS. This is illustrated through the case of a land records updating service in Bangladesh

Health promoting potential of herbal teas and tinctures from Artemisia campestris subsp maritima: from traditional remedies to prospective products

Get PDF
This work explored the biotechnological potential of the medicinal halophyte Artemisia campestris subsp. maritima (dune wormwood) as a source of health promoting commodities. For that purpose, infusions, decoctions and tinctures were prepared from roots and aerial-organs and evaluated for in vitro antioxidant, anti-diabetic and tyrosinase-inhibitory potential, and also for polyphenolic and mineral contents and toxicity. The dune wormwood extracts had high polyphenolic content and several phenolics were identified by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array-mass-spectrometry (UHPLC-PDA-MS). The main compounds were quinic, chlorogenic and caffeic acids, coumarin sulfates and dicaffeoylquinic acids; several of the identified phytoconstituents are here firstly reported in this A. campestris subspecies. Results obtained with this plant's extracts point to nutritional applications as mineral supplementary source, safe for human consumption, as suggested by the moderate to low toxicity of the extracts towards mammalian cell lines. The dune wormwood extracts had in general high antioxidant activity and also the capacity to inhibit a-glucosidase and tyrosinase. In summary, dune wormwood extracts are a significant source of polyphenolic and mineral constituents, antioxidants and a-glucosidase and tyrosinase inhibitors, and thus, relevant for different commercial segments like the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and/or food industries.FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology [CCMAR/Multi/04326/2013]; Portuguese National Budget; FCT [IF/00049/2012, SFRH/BD/94407/2013]; Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO) [12M8315N]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Development of Eco-Friendly Concrete Mix Using Recycled Aggregates: Structural Performance and Pore Feature Study Using Image Analysis.

Get PDF
The shortage of natural aggregates has compelled the developers to devote their efforts to finding alternative aggregates. On the other hand, demolition waste from old constructions creates huge land acquisition problems and environmental pollution. Both these problems can be solved by recycling waste materials. The current study aims to use recycled brick aggregates (RBA) to develop eco-friendly pervious concrete (PC) and investigate the new concrete's structural performance and pore structure distributions. Through laboratory testing and image processing techniques, the effects of replacement ratio (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%) and particle size (4.75 mm, 9.5 mm, and 12.5 mm) on both structural performance and pore feature were analyzed. The obtained results showed that the smallest aggregate size (size = 4.75 mm) provides the best strength compared to the large sizes. The image analysis method has shown the average pore sizes of PC mixes made with smaller aggregates (size = 4.75 mm) as 1.8-2 mm, whereas the mixes prepared with an aggregate size of 9.5 mm and 12.5 mm can provide pore sizes of 2.9-3.1 mm and 3.7-4.2 mm, respectively. In summary, the results confirmed that 40-60% of the natural aggregates could be replaced with RBA without influencing both strength and pore features
